Developer Name(s): Zane Saxton.

Start Date: Unknown

Production Information:

The class 317 started as a off chance production, but since having long discussions with a real driver this unit has really took off and it set to become one of the "most realistic trains for BVE yet" as quoted from the driver. Work had slowed down due to my disappearance for a couple of months, but its now currently heading on the right tracks (excuse the pun).

  • Fully functional AWS, TPWS and cab Sunflower.

  • CSR setting up sounds.

  • Working wipers.

  • Panto up/down routine.

  • High resolution cab with full animation

  • Driver Reminder Appliance

  • All sounds recorded in Stereo format from cab.

  • Realistic performances (driver verified.)

  •

Real Driver Quote:

"I have to say that I think your Cl317 is set to become the most realistic train for BVE yet. It already has the sounds and feel of the real thing and, with a few tweaks and additions, it should be a rival for the real thing.

Stick by your guns and keep it faithful to the real thing because you're doing a fantastic job with it."

Great Yarmouth - Norwich (via Acle) [BVE4] version 4

'The Wherry Lines'

Line Information:

"The Wherry Lines are the railway lines in England, from Norwich to Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. These lines pass through The Broads.

The line was first opened from Norwich to Great Yarmouth by the Norwich and Yarmouth Railway in 1844, running via Reedham. The link from Reedham to Lowestoft was added in 1847 by Samuel Morton Peto. Finally, the northern route from Norwich to Great Yarmouth was added in 1882 by the Great Eastern Railway. Despite their apparently rural nature the lines should be regarded as commuter lines. In this respect, gross overcrowding at morning and evening peaks has caused local concern.

Passenger services are provided by 'one', using of Class 150, Class 153, Class 156 or Class 170 diesel multiple units, as the routes are not electrified. Most services originate from Norwich, but some services operate through from London Liverpool Street via Norwich. These through services are either formed of Turbostars or else are Class 90 electric locomotives with hauled coaching stock, which are dragged from Norwich by a Class 47 diesel locomotive.

The name of the line is taken from the Norfolk wherries, which played an important role in the transport of goods and people around the broads before road and rail transport became widespread."

Answers.com

We're Simulating the line via Acle.

The towns and villages served by the Great Yarmouth to Norwich route are listed below.

Great Yarmouth - Norwich via Acle

  • Norwich (Destination)
  •           Route from London & Cambridge Joins
  •           Route from Sheringham Joins
  • Brundall Gardens
  • Brundall
  •           Route from Reedham and Lowestoft joins
  • Lingwood
  • Acle
  •            Route via Reedham diverges
  • Great Yarmouth (Origin)

Progress Report:

Work started a few years ago, Thanks to Shane Roberts for getting me started on this project. Since then I've been editing track work and textures to get it just right. Nathan Whitlington also lent his friendly hand with point work and objects.

I've got as far as Acle, but there's still lots of work that needs to be done in-between. After staying off the project while I focused on train making I forgot how to code routes unfortunately. I have been trying to pick it up again but progress has been slow. Mainly due to work and my flying lessons.

To the side are some screenshots (not photos of the real route you may be thinking) and that is pretty much it as far as progress is concerned.

If there's anyone out there that would like to help me with this project then please email me at zane[at]chicsystems.co.uk

More to come. [Last updated 10th November 2006]

Norwich - London Liverpool Street [BVE4] version 4

'Great Eastern Mainline'

Line Information:

"The Great Eastern Main Line is the British railway line from London Liverpool Street to Ipswich and Norwich. The route also diverges in several places to serve Harwich, Clacton and Southend.

Passenger services on the route were previously operated by First Great Eastern for commuter services south of Ipswich, and Anglia Railways for fast InterCity services beyond Ipswich. On 1 April 2004, these franchises were merged to form the new 'one' franchise. Since January 2005, the line uses 110 mph Class 90 electric locomotives, although trains can only go 100 mph due to the outdated infrastructure. Before it used 40 year old Class 86 locomotives, which had a top speed of 100 mph."

Answers.com

We're Simulating the line in two parts, Norwich to Ipswich and Ipswich to London Liverpool Street.

The towns and villages served by the Norwich to London route are listed below.

  • London Liverpool Street
  • Stratford
    • Upminster Branch Line diverges to Upminster
    • Line diverges to serve Billericay and Wickford, where the line diverges to serve either Southend-on-Sea, or Southminster via the Crouch Valley Line.
  • Chelmsford
    • Sudbury Branch Line diverges to Sudbury
  • Colchester
    • Line diverges to serve Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton-on-Sea
  • Manningtree
    • Mayflower Line diverges to serve Harwich
  • Ipswich
    • Line diverges to serve Felixstowe Branch Line to Felixstowe, or the East Suffolk Line to Lowestoft
  • Stowmarket
    • Line diverges to serve Bury St. Edmunds then Newmarket and Cambridge, or Ely, March and Peterborough
  • Diss
  • Norwich
    • Line diverges to serve either Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth (via the Wherry Line), or Wroxham, Cromer and Sheringham (via the Bittern Line), or Wymondham, Thetford and Ely (via the Breckland Line)

Progress Report: Norwich station track work complete, but that's basically it as you can see from the screenshots. I will concentrate more on this project once Gt. Yarmouth to Norwich line is complete.

More to come. [Last updated 10th November 2006]
